The CAA have announced that the Transition Altitude between London and Manchester is to be harmonised at 6,000' from 10th March 2011.
To enable this harmonisation, the Transition Altitude for Birmingham and East Midlands is to be changed to 6,000ft, the boundary of the Daventry Control Area is redefined and the Transition Altitude used within and beneath the re-defined Daventry Control Area will also be 6,000ft. As a consequence of this change the Transition Altitude applicable at aerodromes situated beneath the Daventry Control Area will also become 6,000ft.
For aircraft operating in Class G airspace in this region, the change will simplify the applicable Transition Altitude arrangements in this complex area and should reduce the likelihood of vertical infringements of Controlled Airspace.
